Sound bite of the day: Peraica versus Daley
Today’s Sound bite of the day is so intense, it deserves two sound bites.
With all of the strong political personalities, Cook County board meetings are notoriously heated. But today took the cake. During a roll call vote, Commissioner Tony Peraica called out the Daley clan. John Daley sits on the board of commissioners and he’s the brother of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. It’s recently been reported Mayor Daley’s son has been living in Russia, which is where I’ll let Tony Peraica’s sound bite begin:

After Peraica’s comment, John Daley (who had his microphone turned off), looked over at Peraica and said, “Tony, I will remember that.”
Later, when Daley once again had the floor, he had this to say to Peraica:

That statement was so inscrutable I had to transcribe it:
“I know if whenever the individual who made that statement is at a meeting – at a party – with my brother, if you stop quick, you would have to get a crane out of him.”
Nope, I still have no idea what it means. Anyone have any thoughts or theories?
UPDATE: To be fair to Tony Peraica, let it be known that he later said he regrets making the statement.

It sounds like a zing gone bad. As for the crane comment, I don’t speak fluent Daley but I am going to make a leap and say maybe someone would need a crane to get the mayor’s foot out of something it went into?
I think overall, this sounds like a bunch of people who shouldn’t be in a job that requires public speaking of any kind.
He meant that if the Mayor stopped quickly, you’d need a crane to get Peraica’s head out of the Mayor’s ass.
OH, now I get it!
