Is Senator Burris Having Second Thoughts?
Last month, Illinois U.S. Senator Roland Burris clearly said he would not be a candidate in the 2010 election. That’s why this was a bit confusing: in an interview with ABC News, Burris ever-so-barely left open the door to a run. “You never say never,” he said.
We called Burris’ political spokesperson Delmarie Cobb for comment. Cobb dismissed talk of a Burris campaign. But, in a nod to the senator’s explanation last month that he would not run because campaign fundraising would be too time consuming, she said, “If he wins the lottery and can afford to self-finance his campaign, all bets are off.”
