So if Hynes concedes this morning, does he have to get the election-night band and supporters to come back to the party?

Top Story: Comptroller Dan Hynes is scheduled to speak this morning to make an announcement on his campaign. The numbers are very close, but the lead has widened for Quinn since election night. Will this be a concession speech? And since it’s no longer at a party, does he still have the back-line of family and supporters? Balloons? Do they just go back to the hotel they were at, bus in a crowd of revelers and pretend it’s still election night?

B Story: Way to go WTTW and Chicago Tonight! Scoring both Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard on yesterday night’s program. Gosh, the GOP are so chummy. They pretty much wanted to give each other the win. And you throw in Judy Baar Topinka making Terminator references and you got yourself one hell of a party. No, not a political party, but a dinner party.

C Story: Is there something non-election to cover? Let’s see…nope. Let’s go with the Trib’s big story on the arrest record of Lt. Governor candidate Scott Lee Cohen. Something tells me Ray and Rick had this one sitting on the desk for a while and dusted it off when they saw the surprising results. He did have the best campaign commercial though, where, in a poorly filmed shot, he stares down someone off-screen and kind of yells at them about needing more jobs. It was effective. I was scared. I voted for him because his tie was loosened a bit and I didn’t want him to stare me down anymore. I’m like that.

Weather: What happened with the Groundhog? Anyone? I refuse to waste my time Googling it. Just tell me he saw (or is it didn’t see?) his shadow and it will be Taste of Chicago tomorrow.

Sports: My colleague Steve Waranauskas pointed this gem out that I haven’t seen anywhere else (I’m sure it has been): With the hiring of Mike Martz, the Chicago Bears now have 4 coaches with head-coach experience on the staff. That doesn’t bode well for Lovie if the Bears stumble out of the gates next year. Jerry Angelo has essentially stacked his coaching roster with replacements for Lovie.  So I wonder how Lovie feels about that?

Kicker: I go right back to Judy Baar Topinka. There’s nothing better than her clip about the Terminator. She’s awesome.

God, I might open my veins because of the boring, impromptu filler that WBEZ is wasting my time with at 10am on Feb 3rd. Just wait till a news broadcast to report on Dan Hynes rather than preempt the BBC news. Wait, i can switch to the worldservice website to hear the news. Bye

If you are serious, then I am completely appalled that you didn’t vote for Art Turner. He is honest, hard-working, and truly a public servant. People on both sides of the aisles respect him and work with him. He is also modest, and truly in it because he is a public servant. He could have done a lot with this job.

I’m not serious. I wouldn’t vote for a guy because I thought he was intimidating. Just a bit of sarcasm. I’ll keep my voting record to myself, but thanks to the guys outside my polling place for telling me to vote for Turner, and while I was in the poll, putting a bunch of Turner flyers on my windshield, hoping I might vote again?

I voted for him because I had just watched a “Pawn Stars” marathon on A&E. I figured he probably knows a lot about a lot of stuff.

And no, I am not serious either.
