Sunday Edition: Chicago stories in the national news
It’s Sunday morning and we thought we would try and collect some of the local news making national headlines…
- The LA Times is reporting on the Supreme Court’s decision to take on an anti-corruption law that may have implications for the government’s case against former Governor Rod Blagojevich. This seems to be big news with big impact on the Chicago region. Probably bigger than Tiger Woods or Bears/Viking coverage, don’t ya think local newspapers?
- Must read Tweet of the day: @EbertChicago – I can’t talk. I want to talk.
- Everybody is talking in past tense when referring to the coaching tenure of Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis. Fox Sports lays the groundwork for how Charlie Weis can keep his job. Why would he want to? If he is let go, he is given tens of millions of dollars in walk-away money. I have to get a deal like that. If WBEZ fires me, I get a million bucks. Sounds good.
- Scott Simon writes about the late Chicago boxer and organ donor, Francisco “Paco” Rodriguez.
- You better run out to the Walgreens and get a last minute birthday card. Rahm is turning 50 today.
- This isn’t as much about Chicago, but more about all towns…is Social Media replacing the local Chamber of Commerce? So profile pictures and status updates will replace coupon books and wall-plaques?
Finally, we’ve decided to stop tweeting and blogging and just get back to the basics. Writing on walls, 140 characters or less.
