If Apple takes over Clybourn stop, they better not get rid of the Jewish singles billboards.
Tax time! I love that the economic stories yesterday were pointing to pre-recession strength. Are we going to get out of this financial funk soon? Is it time to head back to Vegas? Maybe buy a boat from the boat show? Just as I start to count my cash, the other shoe drops…which is not really a shoe but one of those combat boot/doc marten concoctions you used to buy at the Alley. Property taxes are going sky-high. The Trib has a nice PDF of the areas and their increases. I think I might have to pay more attention to the race for the Tax Assessor.
Mayor Daley is talking about property taxes at a press conference. The producers at the ‘Sound Bite of the Day‘ are salivating.
So Apple is going to spend big money to pretty much own the Clybourn Red Line stop. Good. So does that mean they will take down the billboards for Expedia or my all-time favorite transit billboard for Jewish Singles – “Nowhere in the Torah does it say ‘Thou Shall not have any fun.’” They better not touch that.
Alderman Joe Moore is letting his constituents decide on how to spend his infrastructure budget for next year. My guess? More coffee shops and clove cigarettes (BOOM, GOT YOU ROGERS PARK!). I kid. I love you guys.
Other stories swirling around the creek today:
- You & Me this Morning debuted on WCIU today. It’s a new morning news television show. Television? That’s so 2000’s.
- Best thing I’ve seen in days – a baby crying in auto-tune. Sign him up, Capitol Records!
- Is that Babylon’s mug in the Trib? Vocalo.org host Brian Babylon is hosting the Moth tonight.
