Will Melissa and Jeanne become ‘You & Me’ team?
Good news for all you Melissa Forman fans out there: The veteran Chicago radio personality may be wrapping up her fill-in stint for Jeanne Sparrow on WCIU-Channel 26’s morning show this week, but don’t be surprised if you see them both on together soon.
Sparrow has been out since Feb. 25 when she had seven fibroids — non-cancerous tumors — removed from her uterine wall. “The good news is everything went very well, I’m on the mend, and I will be coming back to ‘You & Me This Morning’ soon,” Sparrow wrote last week on the show’s website. “But I still need to be out for a few weeks to recuperate and get my stamina back.” Filling in for her next week will be Angela Miles, anchor of Weigel Broadcasting’s syndicated “First Business” financial news show.
Forman, best known as the former morning and afternoon host on Clear Channel Radio adult contemporary WLIT-FM (93.9), earned high marks from Weigel Broadcasting bosses for the four weeks she’s been guest-hosting “You & Me This Morning.” Although she’ll be away with her family for spring break next week, there’s likely to be an ongoing role for her when she returns. Said Weigel’s executive vice president Neal Sabin:
“Melissa has done an incredible job filling in for Jeanne Sparrow. She’s a joy to have in our building and on ‘The U.’ I don’t think this will be the last time you’ll see Melissa on our stations. We are excited to have Jeanne returning, as we really miss having her on ‘The U,’ where she does an incredible job and is a joy to have in our building. Now I know why they get along so well! Both have such a positive attitude on camera as well as in every day work mode.”
Airing since last October, “You & Me This Morning” consists of locally produced talk and information segments sprinkled throughout the morning block of syndicated programming on “The U” between 6 and 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Alright Katie… you now have the floor to give glowing remarks about Melissa Forehead.
Melissa Forman is one of the brightest hardworking radio personalities I have had the pleasure to know. Channel 26 will have to re-set the white balance on its cameras to handle her teeth! Is she smart? She turned me down when I offered her a job……twice
This is all fine and good, Neal, but what I really want to know is if Melissa Foreman is a joy to have in your building. I’m not leaving until I get a straight answer.
I miss Melissa Forman from her days as the morning drive hostess of ENERGY 92.7 and 92.5″ FM. with her great ability to chat about current issues and take calls in between the dance music. What a delight she was as I drove to work each early morning. I think she would be GREAT as morning drive hostess of the 4 AM/FM WCPT Progressive Talk Radio stations. She is a great local talent and should not be off the air because she truly is a joy on the radio (and television for that matter!) and has been through career he** thanks to those strange owners and management team of her last full-time radio gig!
I thought for sure that the story for today would be about WGN dropping Sports Central. As we all know, the readers of this blog hang on every move made over at WGN as if it had influence on the quality of life.
Angela Miles is a class act.
O M G. I think I just wet my pants.
OMG Katie’s gonna have a conniption :-)
OK, I’m back now. This is the most exciting news I’ve read since we lost the Olympics and I wouldn’t have to learn like 387 languages to talk to all the visitors. Neil Sabin is a GENIUS in seeing the brilliance, sparkling personality and teeth, warm heart, perfectly colored hair, and well applied tan on the semi-lovely Melissa Forman. Putting her on every day would make her appearance on TV almost as meaningful as having the Three Stooges on. I have hours of VHS tapes of Melissa’s work while what’s her name has been off, and I can tell you after studying them that there hasn’t been a more electrifying hostess on Chicago TV since Janina Stranski. I can only pray to the spirits of Kukla, Fran, and Ollie that the semi-lovely Ms. Forman will be granted the chance to be on the TV and in my bedroom every morning. Pretty please with Bosco on top?

You mean people really watch that in the morning?
@NoWGNstory? (No.5): Readers of this blog have known about the impending demise of WGN’s “Sports Central” since last Friday. In case you missed it, here is the link:

I apologize, I thought “Speculation” meant opinion based on incomplete information. However, speculation now has the same meaning as “fact”. I apologize for not keeping up with the new usages for the English language.
How interesting it would have been if WGN would have had the foresight to have Jeanne and Melissa succeed Kathy and Judy as morning hosts following John Williams in the 5:00 to 9:00 slot. Instead, GN hired a talented guy who is terribly miscast in his present role as a early morning host. Add to that the screwing up of weekend programming(which needed repair)as well as the hiring of a guy older than the sought after demographic and the WGN ratings debacle continues.
Thank heaven for little favors,at least Jerry Agar is gone.
..watch it with the 3 Stooges remarks, Katie, or I’ll have you pick two (and I don’t mean Melissa and Jeanne, who are both a pleasure to have in our building…)
@NoWGNstory? (No. 13): Why the sarcasm? It’s not a “fact” until it’s announced by the station. As far as I know, it has not yet been announced or confirmed by anyone. The Sun-Times provided no more confirmation today than I did. I was just pointing out that I had made readers aware of the expected move last week.
RFeder, I just want you to know it’s a downright joy to have you on my web browser.
Melissa is awesome. A lovely person and wonderful personality. If she and Randzo the Clown had a show, I think she would charm the rubber penis right off his neck.
And then of course, there’s Katie Melissa Forman Knott who always talks sooo dirty on here that it stimulates me more than seeing the 65-year-old in my building who just got implants.
Sorry Rob, I realized after I sent it that I was being quarrelsome for no reason. This morning I heard both WBBM-TV and WFLD-TV talk about the cancellation of Sports Central. Mike North opined that it was canceled because the show wasn’t any good. He then went onto say that this town radio airwaves are in the can because they lack personalities such as himself, Steve Dahl and Mancow. Jiggets said that Sports Central is being replaced by call-in shows (whatever that means on a talk radio station because that is the basis of talk radio…listeners call-in shows).
@Mike: “Instead, GN hired a talented guy who is terribly miscast in his present role as a early morning host.”
.
And they’re still stuck with John Williams and his atrocious Jim Channell impersonation. That is, impersonation of Jim Channell. Do you think Jim Channell sounds like John Williams? Or is it the other way around? Be sure to check in on the NewsClick!
@RichKoz: I’m honored that you noticed me. I’ve been watching you since I was a little girl in Cicero. I wasn’t cool enough to live in Berwyn. I love the Stooges, and it would be a pleasure for you to pick two, and to have you in my building. Just communicating with someone who breathes the same air as the semi-lovely Milissa Forman is a thrill akin to watching Jerry Springer campaign commercials.
Wow, Melissa Forman is just as semi-lovely as Katie has been depicting her!
miss foreman is hot and talented.i think the best interesting lineup is friday mornings vat wjjg 1530 am. ray hanania solid i use to read him in the 80,s then comes scott alan a real talented guy. then kiki vail i use to watch her on channel 5. nolan
I always thought John Williams sounded like the sportscaster Al Michaels…with a soupcon of Alan Alda.
Arbitron has proven that no one over the age of 12 likes the direction WGN radio is offering.
@Mike: Greg Jarrett a wasted talent? What station are you listening too? He is absolutely horrible. Has anyone noticed that he hardly takes calls? Is he scared to talk to people or is there just no one listening to call in?

“Is he scared to talk to people or is there just no one listening to call in?”
Answers: Yes & Yes
I love waking up to Melissa in the morning! She makes everything fun! I never watched the show before she started filling in, and now I watch what I can in the morning and tape the rest to watch at night. She is great!

Just wondering if Greg Jarrett has figured out or has been told) who Lisa Kudrow and
Corey Haim are yet …
@myeyesarerollingfasternow #28: Uh, are they Steve & Johnnie’s overnight guest hosts?
Hey Kent, GOOD CALL—
They are this weeks ‘Web Site Wedesdays’ troubleshooters… Nothing like seeing Lisa Kudrow in a pair
of long-legged ‘re-boots’….. Oh yeah, it’s R A D I O !
Hey Missy,
Happy Pesach . . .
You too, Rob !
Does anyone else talk about Melissa Foreman other than on this fan page site of hers? (Not sure if Katie has her website up yet, but it would be great to have a daily update of Melissa Foreman news, Sneedlike sightings, trivia questions etc….) Although I’d probably spend less time here.
