Introducing Frisbee Friday (and reminding you about Super Saturday)

WHAT IS Frisbee Friday?

Frisbee Friday is a new tradition here at MISSion Amy K.R., and it goes like this.

Every Friday (or random, sporadic Fridays; I haven’t decided which yet), I am going to find something cool to share and then toss it your way. Like this:

http://www.kk.org/thetechnium/archives/2009/02/so_amazing_but.php

That to me is really cool.  (And thank you, Marie-Claude for the tip.)  It is worth tossing your way.  And it is exactly what Frisbee Friday is all about.

Wait!  Quick reminder to all of you who have a fondness for donuts, sitting down, and the great city of Chicago:

TOMORROW SATURDAY MARCH 20TH! WE’RE GOING NOWHERE FAST TOGETHER!

The adventure begins at 9:45 am at the Belmont “L” stop, 945 W. Belmont.  A reason to spring out of bed on the first day of spring!

(Here’s the video again if you want the whole story…set to pretty music.)

Elevating Music and Frisbee Friday

People! Big week for us…

1.  Here’s your Elevating Music.   And if ever there was a song that could be described as elevating in every sense of the word, this would be it…

(“Gabriel” by the artist Lamb)

2.  Starting a new thing here at MISSion Amy K.R. called “Frisbee Friday.” You’ll just have to pop back in Friday to see what it is.

3.  Have you put in your donut order for Saturday? Have you let everyone you know (who is nice, and lives in Chicago) know what we are all doing together Saturday at 9:45 am at 9:45 W. Belmont?

Alright…cool…now get back to work.

See you Friday and/or  Saturday!

2.  Spread the word to all nice Chicagoans.

3.  Meet me at 9:45 am sharp Saturday morning at Belmont “L” station (945 W. Belmont)

Off we go!  (sfx of train here….)

New video: May all your wishes come true

You’ve made your wishes. And now I’ve made this video for you (and The Wish Fairies).

Because the laws of space and time prevented us from including every wish in this mini-film, and because we truly want ALL of your wishes to come true, you’ll see/hear ALL of the wishes left on the toll-free Wishing Line just below the film.

Elevating Music: Califone’s Sunday Noises

Today’s Elevating Music:

Sunday Noises by the band Califone.*

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

I think this song is a really good song to make a wish to… So with Sunday Noises as your back drop, call our Wishing Line at 312-948-4690, close your eyes and make a wish.

If you’ve already made your own wish, perhaps pass this along to other wish-seekers.

(Remember, the deadline for making wishes is tomorrow/Thursday at 5:00 pm CST)

See you back here Friday,

miss amy k.r.

*And check it:  Califone is playing TONIGHT at Lincoln Hall in Chicago!  They are AMAZING live.

Inter Mission: Wish upon a star (button)

During this Inter Mission, I want to invite those of you who have not yet made your wish to call our newly set-up Wishing Line! Read the rest of this entry →

This week’s mission: MAKE A WISH

There’s something quietly powerful about closing your eyes and making a wish, isn’t there?   There’s a gentle/strong juxtaposition at play:   the gestures/customs themselves are typically gentle acts (throwing a penny in a fountain; blowing out the birthday candles; blowing on a fallen eyelash; blowing a dandelion), but inside we are wishing oh-so hard.

Because I haven’t  quite figured out a way to morph into a genie and grant you all wishes, we’ve done the next best thing:

We’ve set up a TOLL FREE WISHING LINE! Read the rest of this entry →

Fun Marching Forth results and question for you

Well, we absolutely have to begin with this clip of Gemma’s mom and dad dutifully marching forth at their daughter’s direction.  How cute is this, how cute are they? I’ve looped it (since it was the one and only video submitted!) and set it to Dave Matthew’s song “Ants Marching.”

As for the rest of you, here’s a list of who started what yesterday: Read the rest of this entry →

Inter Mission: Jefferson, Lincoln & Roosevelt inspire us to ‘March Forth!’

Breaking form a bit today with today’s Inter Mission.

(For those of you who are paying super close attention and are sticklers for consistency, I typically post one of my cartoons/greeting cards in this mid-week slot.)

BUT THIS IS WAY TOO GOOD TO PASS UP:

It turns out that March 4th was the day that 3 of our most visionary presidents took the stage and made their Inaugural Address.  How perfect, right?  A speech about beginnings on the one day of the year that, thanks to word play, we can equate with “marching forth”!

Thomas Jefferson: March 4, 1801

Abraham Lincoln: March 4,  1861

Franklin D. Roosevelt:  March 4, 1933

I hope everyone is getting ready to MARCH FORTH tomorrow, March 4th (whether that means figuratively with your personal life objective, and/or literally with regards to the marching video idea from Monday).

As you ponder and prepare, I will leave you with these Inaugural Address quotes to inspire and get the blood pumping… Read the rest of this entry →
