A new report from the GAO shows that the difference between women’s and men’s pay in the federal workforce is narrowing.  From 1997 to 2008, the pay discrepancy has dropped from 28 cents to 11 cents on the dollar.  According to the GAO report, some of that can be explained by “measurable factors”–things like the jobs men and women hold, as well as education and experience.  7 cents per dollar is NOT accounted for by those factors. 

The American Association of University Women, an advocacy group, released data showing state-by-state wage differences between men and women.  According to their report–a woman with a college degree in IL makes 69% as much as a man with a college degree.
