Once upon a time, if you wanted to expand your social circle online your only options were local Bulletin Board Systems and CompuServe. Then Friendster ushered in the glorious age of social networking. Before long there was a social network for every niche community imaginable. (Even ones for audio-producing citizen journalists).

Today, however, Mark Kirk announced what I predict will be one of the most successful social networks ever: NoTerroristsInIllinois.com. What could be more unifying than that?
